Thomas Allison Edwards attended Arkansas Industrial University in Fayetteville. After graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1897, he taught school and studied law. In 1898 he moved to Indian Territory and was examined for the bar in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Settling in Cordell, he was elected County Attorney of Washita County in 1900.

He was elected judge of the Seventeenth Judicial District in 1914 and served until 1924 when he was elected to the Court of Criminal Appeals. He remained on the court until 1936 when he was defeated by Bert B. Barefoot.
